Men and Women, stages of fear

audreyheckburn:

How dare young women look up to Sylvia Plath. How dare those angsty bitches want to find pieces of media that reflect what the feel in an area filled with men’s writings. How dare women have an interest in her life and compare to her work and maybe romanticize it just a bit because they relate to her a person.

Because you know that never happens with men like Kerouac, Fitzgerald, or H.S. Thompson.

I have a close soft spot for Karen. I love Karen. She’s my great, great friend. And she’s just, you know, she’s just so ridiculous. I can’t even begin to tell you. You know she seems like ‘oh no, I’m in a world of my own,’ but actually she’s very smart and very clever, and she’s very funny, and she’s a great drinking buddy as well. But she’s from Scotland, they know how to do it. Um, and yeah, you know. I’d run through a brick wall for Karen. - Matt Smith

"I grew up in Roseville, Michigan. People called me Crys or C. I loved speech class! I worked at Baskin-Robbins. (I wanted to be) an actor! I was the captain of my dance team and also really enjoyed art. I was really quiet and people misjudged me thinking that meant I was overly confident. But in reality, the opposite was true. I went to prom with my boyfriend, but after the dance he left me at a party all by myself. It was awful! He was a stoic popular jock. He ended up breaking my heart for the next best thing. It was terrible! (…) I would tell (my 17-year-old self) that the real you is far more beautiful than any mask you can put on. Be yourself!”

"Mary, when I say you deserve this man, it is the highest compliment of which I am capable"
